Electronics for Music

I designed and built this haunting instrument. It is designed to make creepy echoing sounds very reminiscent of soundtacks for horror movies. Piezo pickups are mounted in the box and they pick up the vibrations of the springs and musical instruments.

I designed and built this circuit. This 4-Channel mixer is compact and I use it to connect my various mini instruments. It includes a master volume and bass/treble tone control.

I designed and built this circuit. It buffers gate signals or Control Voltages to be shared with up to 5 devices. The circuit can be configured to be a single channel 10x expander.

The Altura Theremin MIDI Controller emulates a Theremin but instead of creating sound, it creates MIDI data for synthesizers. This is designed by Zeppelin Design Labs. This Theremin uses sonar to controll the pitch and volume rather than light or capacitance.

The Macchiato Mini Synth is a versatile little 8-bit synthesizer you can build and mod yourself — or get it fully assembled and ready-to-play. It features a built-in 13-note capacitive-touch keyboard with 2-note polyphony, MIDI IN, and eight control knobs for shaping your sound.

The Atari Punk Console is based on the original Stepped Tone Generator by Forest M. Mimms III. It creates great lo-fi sounds resembling those from the old style Atari games using an astable square wave oscillator.

The Rakit Metal Synth has a Polivok’s inspired filter at its core. It uses this, along with a punchy AD envelope to produce a variety of percussive sounds from shaped noise.
It was designed to be a companion to the Rakit Drum Synth and as such creates a range of mad/interesting sounds and some very useful metallic sounds.

The Rakimix is a simple but proficient mixer with 4 controllable channels and one auxiliary channel. The auxiliary channel can be used to daisy chain with another Rakimix or any typical mono audio source.
